Following her successful crossing of the Atlantic in 2006, Roz Savage is bidding to be the first solo woman to row across the Pacific Ocean from California to Australia. Her 3-stage row launches in Summer 2008.

Environment

Roz's route across the Pacific will take her close to the North Pacific Garbage Patch. She will be sending back an eyewitness account from the ocean, logging and photographing any marine debris that she sees in order to raise awareness of this issue.

The marks on the map below represent sightings of debris. For an animated map of the North Pacific gyres, click here, and to find out more about this environmental crisis and what you can do to help, click here.
